ACUPUNCTURE / COUNSELLING

Traditional Five Element Chinese Acupuncture and Counselling work well in combination, as issues and energetic blockages explored in the Counselling can be targeted with the Acupuncture, bringing a deep shift. During Counselling, issues that are experienced in life, whether emotional physical or spiritual, are explored using a variety of different approaches in order to bring more self awareness, perspective and clarity. The Acupuncture then works to help re-balance all aspects of health and well-being. Good physical and emotional health results from balance in mind and body; negative health issues being the symptoms of blockages or imbalances.

TREATMENT After Counselling and diagnosis, and to restore the body’s natural vital equilibrium, disposable ultra-fine sterile needles are inserted into precisely located Acupuncture points which lie just below the surface of the skin. The needles sometimes cause a slight tingling sensation. After treatment, patients can often feel very relaxed while the body and mind adjust to a more balanced state. Please wear loose comfortable clothing.

BENEFITS Acupuncture seeks to remedy the deeper energetic imbalances that have been revealed by the Counselling. It also works to alleviate specific health symptoms and often results in subtle experiences of well-being. BIODYNAMIC MEDICINE

Biodynamic Psychology, established by Norwegian Clinical Psychologist Gerda Boyesen, recognizes the relationship between body and mind and works with our innate capacity for self-healing. Based on the understanding of the balance of the natural flow of energy between body and mind, it regards disturbance to this flow as the basis for distress, symptoms and the development of disease. Gerda Boyesen’s insight recognized that the gut, as well as digesting food is also vital for the digestion of nervousness and stress. Biodynamic treatments empty this potentially harmful nervous energetic fluid, leading to feelings of cleansing, peace and relaxation. It can also help to resolve emotional and psychological issues.

TREATMENT Gentle therapeutic methods can vary. For example, you may need to speak, or simply rest and be rejuvenated. You may have a particular condition that you need help with, or you may be considering life choices, or facing health problems. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.

BREATHWORK

Most of our knowledge about the benefits of breathing comes from the ancient Eastern philosophies. The power of conscious breathing has been used in the East for many centuries. Only recently has interest and research in the mind-body connection developed in the West, when researchers discovered that altering the breath pattern can alter mental and emotional states. By changing the depth, rhythm, and rate of our breathing, our chemistry, outlook and attitude can alter. As we make these changes, we alter our perspective to engage a more positive mind-body state to improve our lives dramatically.

From a physical viewpoint, our breath is our connection to life. Unless we are breathing deeply and fully, our bodies are not getting the oxygen needed for optimal health, yet the solution can be as simple as conscious redirection of the breathing pattern. The pattern can be reprogrammed and the breathing muscles retrained.


CRANIO-SACRAL THERAPY

The presence of subtle rhythms in the body was discovered in the cranial bones over 100 years ago. Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive form of bodywork that addresses the bones of the head, spinal column and sacrum. The goal is to release compression in those areas to alleviate stress and pain. During the course of our lives our bodies become patterned, shaped and conditioned according to how we deal with stress or trauma. If this is overwhelming, they become locked in the body as sites of inertia.

TREATMENT Cranio-Sacral Therapy is carried out with you lying down, fully clothed. Treatment involves a very gentle touch mainly to the head, the sacrum, the feet, the trunk of the body. Treatment is generally experienced as a profound relaxation which may pervade the whole person, physically, mentally and emotionally. The gentle approach of this therapy creates a subtle interaction of the body’s self healing mechanisms, allowing the body to respond, release and open up to a more balanced healthy state.

BENEFITS The applications of Cranio-Sacral Therapy are very wide – from simple aches and pains to the most complex chronic or persistent issues. It can also be valuable in helping to resolve intransigent and persistent conditions that have not responded to other forms of treatment. Cranio-Sacral Therapy is concerned with enhancing health, strength and vitality at the very core of our being.


EFT : EMOTIONAL FREEDOm TECHNIQUE

EFT, also known as ‘Tapping’, is an alternative therapy that scientifically affects the nervous system by combining acupressure with focused thought to send calming signals to the brain, which lowers stress hormones like cortisol and shifts the body from a ‘fight-or-flight’ state to a ‘rest and digest’ state. EFT can reduce anxiety, depression, PTSD and many other symptoms.

TREATMENT AN EFT treatment can be done face to face or lying down. Certain acupressure points are tapped either by the therapist or the client, depending on whether the client is in person or being seen online. While these specific points are tapped an EFT statement may be repeated, or the therapist may invite the client to simply think about an old traumatic event while tapping the points.

BENEFITS EFT reduces stress, anxiety, improves emotional regulation, releases trauma and can even help with pain relief. It can also help with issues like poor sleep, low self esteem, fears and phobias or food cravings.


IFS : INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS

Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) places emphasis and value on supporting the relationship between your ‘self’ and the many parts that make up your self. This allows us to more clearly identify the defences and protections that have built up over time as a result of challenging, difficult and traumatic experiences. These defences and protections may be sophisticated and deeply embedded, especially following acute or cumulative stress.

TREATMENT IFS is a fully clothed, talking therapeutic session. During the session we will be guided by your protective parts and listen to how they’re responding, both in terms of your mind and your body. Only when you feel safe will we work at unburdening deep and vulnerable parts of your self that have been wounded and become deeply buried.

BENEFITS The benefits of IFS include enhanced self-awareness, emotional healing from past traumas, and improved relationships through greater self compassion and empathy. It helps individuals become more resilient, better able to regulate emotions, and develop a sense of inner peace and Self leadership by fostering a harmonious relationship between inner parts.


SHIATSU

Shiatsu is a physical therapeutic bodywork that supports and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself. It works to align the physical body as well as subtly release deeply-rooted trauma and tension in the psychological and emotional aspects of being. It is a diagnostic treatment based on Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities, and as such can address whatever issue that is brought to the treatment, be it physical, emotional, spiritual or mental.

TREATMENT During your session the practitioner may use touch, comfortable pressure and gentle kneading, stretching and rocking techniques to move your body. Shiatsu is a non-invasive therapy that is a deeply relaxing experience to overall well-being. Your session takes place on a futon-style mattress on the floor. Once your session starts, it is carried out without talking. Please wear light, loose clothing.

BENEFITS Shiatsu can be used in the treatment of a wide range of internal, musculo-skeletal, and emotional conditions. It can help reduce muscle stiffness, stimulate the skin, aid digestion, and influence the nervous system. Shiatsu is often used to treat a wide range of chronic conditions, such as headaches, PMS, digestive disorders, fatigue, insomnia, fibromyalgia, stress, anxiety, and musculo-skeletal pain, including low back, neck, and joint pain. It is believed to have both preventative and remedial effects. Regular treatments can help alleviate stress and maintain health and well-being.
